Vision - Astra Nova: Time Haven
This document describes the vision for one of the proposed game concepts for Astra Nova.
CONCEPT
An action RPG where players build and expand a haven that exists between moments of time. Between missions, develop your sanctuary and train your abilities. During missions, venture into procedurally generated dying timelines, using fluid combat and time manipulation powers to rescue cultures before they're consumed by chaos.
Purpose
Blend fast-paced action combat with rogue-lite progression.
Create meaningful permanent progression through sanctuary development.
Offer varied playstyles through different time manipulation powers.
Make each rescue mission feel unique through procedural generation.
Reward player skill while ensuring failed runs still contribute to growth.
Player Experience
You are a Timekeeper, master of a sanctuary that exists between moments. Each expedition sends you into fracturing timelines where you'll battle the forces of chaos using an arsenal of weapons and time manipulation powers. Every successful mission brings back cultural essences that take root in your sanctuary, growing into living districts that provide new abilities and opportunities.
Even failed missions contribute to your sanctuary's growth, as each attempt brings back knowledge and minor artifacts. As your powers grow and your sanctuary expands, you'll unlock new abilities, discover powerful combinations, and develop your own combat style. Your sanctuary becomes both a living record of what you've saved and a source of ever-growing power.
