Vision - Time Haven Level Structure
Overview
Time Haven will feature a hybrid level system combining a seamless Haven with instanced expeditions. Haven uses World Partition for dynamic streaming of cultural districts, while temporal expeditions are separate levels accessed through narrative-justified loading screens.
Goals
Give players freedom to explore and expand Haven without interruption
Facilitate unique, detailed environments for different cultures
Maintain stable technical performance
Clear technical boundaries for future expansion
Efficient user of development resources
EXPERIENCE
Players explore Haven seamlessly, watching it grow as cultural districts blend naturally together. When venturing on expeditions, they experience a brief "temporal transition" as they travel to dying worlds. Each expedition feels distinct and carefully crafted, while Haven provides the continuous, evolving home players return to between missions.
